George Clooney: 60 years of success

George Clooney turned 60 on May 6, with his trail of successes and fantastic experiences. Even today he is for many a sex symbol and it seems difficult to think that he is really this age, given the splendid shape of him and also because we still imagine and remember him in the many roles he has played, always fascinating and athletic. Clooney was born in Lexington in 1961 and grew up in a family already tied to the show. His father was in fact a television host, while his mother participated in beauty contests and his uncle was the well-known actor José Ferrer. He studied between Cincinnati (Ohio) and Augusta (Kentucky), and even though he never graduated, he was a good baseball player at school, dreaming of getting a professional contract. Unfortunately, the path as a sports player n...

5 films about violence against women

Yesterday, 25 November, was the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. It is a sad anniversary established in 1999 by the United Nations, which specified that by violence we mean "any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life". While, unfortunately, there are still those who are complicit in a culture based on horrible stereotypes about men-women relationships, here are 5 interesting films full of food for thought on the subject. Thelma & Louise It is a 1991 film about two girlfriends, Thelma and Louise, who, tired of being neglected and t...

Morocco’s film studios are among the largest in the world

Hollywood and Bollywood are not the only ones. Morocco also ranks among production companies' favorite places to shoot films and TV series. Berbers' colorful land, rich in culture and suggestive landscapes, home to several Unesco heritage sites and with an incredible natural light that makes colors stand out, it has been and still is the ideal location for a myriad of films.  In particular, the city of Ouarzazate, in the central area of the country and very close to the Sahara desert, hosts one of the largest film studios in the world. This is why the city was given the nickname of "African Hollywood".  A few kilometers from Ouarzazate, there is the oldest of the three major film studios in the country: the Atlas Corporation Studios. They were founded in 1983 by the Morocc...
