May 27 is a special date for the fans of Friends, one of the most famous sitcoms in the world, which is preparing for a brief return with a reunion of the six protagonists. The “episode” will be broadcast shortly, simultaneously between the United States and other nations, including Italy.
17 years after the farewell, an episode entitled “The One Where They Get Back Together” arrives. However, it must be specified that it will not be a real episode in which we will see how the life of the six characters so dear to us has become. Rather, it will be a real reunion of the cast, to remember together and re-act the most famous scenes of the series.
Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffet), Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) and David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), will return to the stage of the much-loved comedy, and they will do it as themselves, not their characters.
“I will not be Rachel, although I kind of am. Well, we’re all sort of little fragments of them. Not really. But yeah”, explains Jennifer Aniston, while Schwimmer anticipated that it will be “a fun interview with some surprises inside”.
The special episode will also be populated by a number of exceptional guests, including David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai. The reunion is a Warner Bros production, directed by Ben Winston, also executive producer along with the longtime executive producers of the comedy Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane and the six protagonists.
Some scenes and images have already leaked, showing how much the actors have changed over all these years. But the bacon, wrinkles and other signs of aging do not question the affection of the fans and the joy of seeing them on screen.
The trailer already suggests that the show will be divided into three parts: in the first the protagonists will return to the legendary set, in the second they will read old scripts, in the third they will answer James Corden’s questions.
But surely the funniest part will be the one that will see the actors improvise, because the episode will be “unscripted”, based on only a few guidelines. So funny moments await us in which the most hilarious scenes will be remembered but, surely, fans can’t help but be moved together with the actors who will relive a glimpse of one of the most important chapters of their life.
