George Clooney: 60 years of success

    News DefaultJune 15, 20210

George Clooney turned 60 on May 6, with his trail of successes and fantastic experiences. Even today he is for many a sex symbol and it seems difficult to think that he is really this age, given the splendid shape of him and also because we still imagine and remember him in the many roles he has played, always fascinating and athletic.

Clooney was born in Lexington in 1961 and grew up in a family already tied to the show. His father was in fact a television host, while his mother participated in beauty contests and his uncle was the well-known actor José Ferrer. He studied between Cincinnati (Ohio) and Augusta (Kentucky), and even though he never graduated, he was a good baseball player at school, dreaming of getting a professional contract. Unfortunately, the path as a sports player never opened up for him, while as a boy he had found space in some TV series. After several years in the ranks, a stroke of luck came in 1994, when he had a part in the NBC TV series “E.R. – frontline doctors”, which would then have 15 very successful seasons until 1999.

The role in the E.R. also earned him the title of “Sexiest Man Alive” (for People magazine). Later, with his friend and partner Steven Soderbergh, he first designed “Out of Sight” (1996) and then “Ocean’s Eleven” (2001), reaching the box office.

Later, Clooney starred in other prominent films such as “Batman & Robin”, “Brother Where Art Thou?” and “The Thin Red Line”.

Little is known about his love life, as Clooney is very reserved, but in 2013 news came of his dating with the lawyer Amal Alamuddin, whom he would later marry in 2014. Three years later, the couple gave birth to two twins. The couple was so successful that at one point it was thought that the two would make it to the White House, also for their social and political commitment.

Despite the awards he received as an actor and director, Clooney said that for him marrying Amal was like “winning the jackpot and the long lockdown break, despite all his difficulties, made us even more united and stronger. Being a husband and a father is better than winning the Oscar.” And there were two awards he won: one as co-star actor for “Syriana “(which he also directed) and the other as a producer of “Argo”, directed with Ben Affleck.

In fact, Clooney was not only successful as an actor, but also as a director, and his most famous work was 2005’s “Good Night and Good Luck”.

Soon we will return to see him as an actor, paired with Julia Roberts, in the romantic melodrama “Ticket to Paradise” filmed in Australia and temporarily stopped due to Covid. We will have to wait until 2022, but it will certainly be worth it.
